「ゲームストーミング」（Gamestorming - A Playbook for Innovators, Rulebreakers, and Changemakers： Dave Grayほか著, O’Reilly Media社, 2010）は、マネジャーの仕事に対する思い込みを根本から、気持ちよいほどに覆してくれる。

プロセスを明確に定義し、管理をすればするほど、個人の「やらされ感」は高まる。仕事の本質を考えていこうというモチベーションを奪い去る。厳密な プロセスの管理は、「創造性を発揮する余地」を失わせてしまうからだ。創造的な組織経営を考えるすべてのリーダーは、プロセスの管理を自分の仕事と、もは や考えてはならない。

もしゴールが分かっている仕事であれば、そのプロセスは明確で、その通りに仕事をしているかどうかを管理することに意味はある。だが、事業企画や商 品企画、研究開発、マーケティングなど、多くの知識ワークは、一つの目標に向かって突っ走ればよいという訳ではない。ドラッカーの知識ワーカーの定義のと おり、「ゴールを自ら設定する」ことが最重要な仕事である。だからこそ、知識ワークは、プロセスよりもゲームに近いといえる。
